Job Description or Duties: The office associate assists the department chair with administrative duties and is a support person to faculty. This individual is the face of the department and greets and assists students, faculty and visitors. Daily assignments may include test grading, recording, working with University systems to assure business operations are carried out in a timely manner, arranging travel, monitoring office copiers to assure good working order. Oversees budget; monitors expenditures, helps to assess needed items for functioning of department. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Self-starter and highly motivated. Individual will oversee the maintenance of web pages for department and student sponsored sites. Monitor operation of two copiers used by faculty in several departments; keeping track of copy totals; billing out to departments, making sure adequate supplies are on hand at all times; reporting problems with machines to repair, electronically monitor copier functioning. Coordinate, assist with administration of required excel testing of all Accounting 251 and Finance 308 students each semester. Assist department chair with issuing class permits and class scheduling. Travel arranger for faculty attending conferences and meetings. Complete processes necessary to Insure reimbursement is made in a timely manner. Make arrangements for student group travel insuring required university forms are completed for the process. Assists in travel arrangements, advertising, speaker recruitment for university-wide events. Assists faculty with program planning for student honorary society. May be required to do extensive research to find answers to complex problems. Must be able to stay current with university-wide procedures and requirements.
 
Required Qualifications: High School Diploma. Previous office experience. Must have strong human relations skills and excellent oral and written communication skills; must be able to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office products.
 
Preferred Qualifications: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent combination of education and experience, previous experience in office environment with an emphasis on customer service.
